William David Daniel Kennedy

January 13, 1943 — January 25, 2022

William David Daniel Kennedy passed away January 25, 2022 at Willapa Bay Hospital. Bill was born in Detroit during World War Two on December 13, 1943. In 1956, when he was 13 his mother, Grace, and his father, William, separated. Soon thereafter Grace, Bill, his younger brother Danny plus several other family members travelled west to start new lives in the Los Angeles area. Bill graduated from high school in 1961 and then joined the Air Force and became a military policeman. This, no doubt, influenced his decision to enter law enforcement after leaving the military. He became a member of the Ventura (California) Sherriff’s department and then moved on to become a California Highway Patrolman. During this time Bill married Janice Sherman and in 1972 became the father of Williams Charles Michael Kennedy and then Cameron Louis Kennedy in 1975. About ten years later, Bill and Janice had divorced and Bill met Helaina Haig. Together, they both moved to Seattle where Bill’s younger brother, Dan, lived. Soon they were married and they moved south to the Willapa Bay area in southwest Washington. Bill and Helaina started Bayshore Realty in South Bend in 1994. Bill went on to participate in various local groups including the Kiwanis and the Knights of Columbus. He was also on the South Bend Planning Board for some time. Bill acquired his private pilot license in 1999 and owned numerous aircraft that he enjoyed flying. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and owned a number of motorcycles even establishing a small Boss Hoss dealership for a short time. All along he did what he could to build their business and contribute to their community. Services will be held on February 5th at 11am at St. Lawrence Parish, 1112 Blake Street, Raymond, WA 98577. A reception will follow and then be followed by military honors presented by the American Legion at St. Joseph Holy Family Church in Lebam.
