Walter Pehl

March 15, 1926 — March 17, 2014

Walter E. Pehl of Raymond passed away quietly at home on March 17, 2014 after a courageous 18-year battle with Alzheimer\\'s. Born March 15, 1926 to Edmund and Marie Pehl at home in Pacific County, he grew up on the family farm in the South Fork valley. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna \\\Bunny\\\" Pehl after 64 years. Walt graduated from Willapa Valley High School in 1944 and spent his life working in the lumber industry. He spent 28 years as a high climber and woods foreman for Weyerhaeuser before retiring in 1984. Walt and Bunny spent many years traveling worldwide and gathered many friends throughout their adventures. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed many favorite-fishing holes throughout the county. Together Walt and Bunny brought five children into their loving home. Christy Aguirre of Portland Oregon, Wayne (Michelle) Pehl on the family farm in Raymond; Kathi (Garry) Holland of Olympia; David Pehl of Colville; and Carolyn (David) Allee at the family home on the South Fork River. Grandchildren lovingly remember the many hours at grandma and grandpa\\'s home on the South Fork River with tractor rides, picnics and family celebrations. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Carolyn and David Allee who tenderly cared for mom and dad during the past three years in their home. Walt is preceded in death by two grandsons: Adam Pehl and Tanner Pehl. Besides his wife and children he is survived by his sisters Marie (Howard) Monohon of Menlo, and Wanda (Jerry) Jackson of Long Beach Washington; 25 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Walt had been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Services will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the LDS chapel 245 East Jackson Street, Raymond, Washington. Interment at Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo. Memorials may be made to the Raymond Ambulance Fund, 212 Commercial Street, Raymond WA 98577. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
