Robert Doubek

May 6, 1932 — June 22, 2015

Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 22, 2015. He was cared for at the Willapa Harbor Hospital, when he passed away at the age of 83. Bob was born May 6, 1932 in South Bend, Washington, to James Vasclav and Bessie (Langer) Doubek. Bob was a 1950 graduate of Willapa Valley High School. He was drafted to fight in the Korean War. In 1960 he went to Bates College to learn carpentry. He married Elisabeth Braun September 26, 1964. Bob worked in construction for 14 years and then spent 20 years as a civilian employee of the United States Navy, working at the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, from where he retired in 1994. Bob had always looked forward to moving back to the Raymond area, where he built his third home for the family. He was a creative man, who drew the plans for the homes. One of his hobbies was boat building; he also enjoyed making wood carvings. He hunted for most of his life, was good at gardening, and planted many trees. Bob was a member of the Lebam Community Church. He is survived by a son, Kurt Doubek of Raymond; two daughters, Jill Shmaryahu of Arad, Israel, and Sue Jaquith of Tacoma, WA. He is also survived by six grandchildren. Bob is survived by his brother, Larry Doubek of Raymond, but was preceded in death by his sister Dolores Hughes of Fallon, Nevada. We would like to thank the nurses and the staff of Willapa Harbor Hospital for their compassionate care. Memorial services will be held at the Lebam Community Church on July 11, at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond. Memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Lebam Community Church at 2336 State Route 6, Raymond WA 98577 To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Robert Doubek please visit our Sympathy Store.
