Marjorie Miller

Marjorie (Marge) A. Miller, a South Bend resident, died peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, November 8, 2017; she was 99. She was born September 26, 1918 in Giltner, Nebraska to Earl and Roxie (Pavey) Sallee. She was a 1936 graduate of Edgemont High School in Edgemont, South Dakota. Marge and her family lived in Nebraska and Wyoming and in 1950 moved to Toppenish, WA where she worked at Brown’s Drug Store for 8 years. Eventually the family relocated to Long Beach in 1960 where she worked at the Long Beach Pharmacy for 37 years until her retirement in 1995. Marge loved her family and enjoyed being the wonderful homemaker she was for her family. She also enjoyed leisurely drives and sightseeing, as well as watching and feeding hummingbirds. Marjorie was preceded in death by her sister Ruby Edinger and by her brother Maurice Sallee. She is survived by her daughter Janiece (Bill) Newell of Medford, Oregon, her son Dick (Marge) Jeffers of Long Beach, Wash., her niece Judy (Tim) Gettmann, and her nephew Gary Edinger. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren Barb (Jerry) Bolden and Brett Newell, by 4 great-grandchildren Charissa (Jake) White, Mitchell Bolden, Blade (Meitza) Bolden, and Keira Newell, and by great-great grandchildren Chloe Massey, Leelah Bolden, and Ella Bolden. Also surviving Marge are her special friends Lorrie Smith, Donna Beller, Carla Hernandez, Ann and Tino Renon, Mark and Connie Illias, “Buck†and Pat Donnelley, David and Kathy Aase, Don and Marge Cox, and Charlotte Lawrence. She will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of those who loved her. “A special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Alder House for their compassion and loving care and attention given to our mother. We will be forever grateful to her granddaughter Barb Bolden for her devotion, love, daily attention, and her help to her grandmother.†In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marge’s memory to Willapa Harbor Helping Hands at P.O.
