Lucille J. Totten, a lifetime Raymond resident died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Alder House Assisted Living Facility in South Bend; she was 93. Lucille was born July 3, 1921 in Raymond, WA to Robert Sr. and Effie (Jouper) Hoffer. Lucille married Roy C. Totten Jr. in July of 1944. After 44 years of marriage he preceded her in death in 1988. She was also preceded in death by three sons; Benjamin, William and Robert Totten. She is survived by daughter-in-law Sharon Totten of Rapid City, SD, a son, James (Carol) Totten of Raymond, and her daughter Susan Alexander of Aberdeen, WA. Lucille is also survived by seven grandchildren; Sheila McFarland, Scott Totten, Jason Totten, Christopher Totten, Anthony Alexander, Jill Campbell, and J.J. Totten. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. In 1940, Lucille graduated from Raymond High School, and then continued education, attending, and graduating from business school. She put her business education to work in 1960 working as a bookkeeper for Pacific Wholesale. She worked there until retiring in 1985. Lucille was a proud member of the Raymond Baptist Church, and spent a great deal of time doing volunteer work. She was a volunteer manager at Penny Wise, and volunteered at the food bank. She also was a co-creator of “Friends of Special People†which was a special sports program for the disabled. In the small amount of free time that she had remaining between her volunteer work, she enjoyed going to the casino, putting together jigsaw puzzles, gardening, reading, travelling, and watching the Seattle Seahawks. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucille’s memory may be made to the Willapa Harbor Helping Hands at PO Box 597, South Bend, WA 98586 or the Alder House at PO Box 438, South Bend, WA 98586. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7th, 2015 at the Raymond First Baptist Church with potluck to follow. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
