Joyce Gerow

Joyce Norine Gerow was born to Homer and Betty Wilson on February 21, 1931, in Raymond, WA, and passed away on December 27, 2013, after a brief stay at Willapa Harbor Care Center in Raymond. Joyce grew up in Raymond and graduated from Raymond High School in 1949. She married John Gerow on May 29, 1949. Joyce was an Air Force spouse and enjoyed their travels to England, Japan, Philippines, and many states. Joyce worked for the Pacific Telephone Company and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. Joyce was an active member of the United Church of Raymond where she was the treasurer from 1977 to 2012, and where she taught Sunday school also. She was a Lifetime Member of the Eastern Star and also the treasurer. Joyce was involved in the Willapa Valley HOSTS Program since 1972, Willapa Harbor Senior Citizens Club, and an active member of the Willapa Harbor Ministerial Association where she was the food bank treasurer from 1990 to 2012. Joyce is survived by her son Kenneth Gerow and wife Roxanne. Joyce is also survived by her 3 grandsons; Jonathan Gerow and fiancée Alex Millican, Jacob Gerow and wife Lindsey, and Luke Gerow. Once Joyce’s first grandson was born, she was thereafter always known as “Grandma Joyce†. Her hobbies included sewing, bookkeeping, reading, but mainly following all the sporting events that her grandsons were ever involved in and school functions they participated in. She always wore her “Viking Grandma†sweatshirt proudly. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Betty, husband John, brother Freddie L. Wilson, brother Dr. Marion E. Wilson, brother Master Sergeant Charles A. Wilson, brother Robert Wilson, and brother Arthur Wilson. Memorial Donations may be made in memory Joyce to Compassion & Choice of Washington, P.O. Per Joyce’s request, there will be no public service. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
