Joseph Paulis

January 27, 1918 — November 28, 2013

On November 28th, 2013, Joseph T. Paulis was called home to his final resting place. Joe was born January 27th, 1918 to Thomas and Ludwicka Paulis in Frances, Washington. Joe joined the Navy on July 5th, 1942 and was discharged on Dec. 11th, 1945. He worked in the Logging Industry and retired from DNR. Joe loved the outdoors, planting trees, cutting firewood, gardening, working in his woodworking shop, playing cards and most of all fishing. He was a member of the Raymond Eagles, Catholic Church, Lewis-Pacific Swiss Society and the VFW. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Tom Paulis, mother, Ludwicka Paulis-Smith, two brothers, Walter Paulis and George Smith and a sister Mary Smith-Strago. His is survived by one brother, Walt Smith of Frances and two sisters, Nellie Epling of Pe Ell and Niie Grohs of Seattle and numerous nieces and nephews. A special Thanks for the wonderful loving care that was received from the Alder House. Donations can be made to the Willapa Harbor Helping Hands, the Lebam Fire Department or the Catholic Church Alter Society. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 7th at 11:00 am at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Frances. A gathering at the Swiss Hall in Frances will be held following the service.
