John F Pehl

July 17, 1924 — October 17, 2020

“Well, Im on my way to Heaven…” John F. Pehl left this troubled world to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, October 17th, 2020. John was born at the family farm on the South Fork of the Willapa River on July 17, 1924 to Henry and Pauline Pehl. He was the youngest of twelve children. John assumed many of the duties on the small farm when he was 14 years old, after his father was lost to a construction accident. He went on to graduate from Willapa Valley High in 1942. On March 10, 1945, John married the love of his life, Betty Jo Tipsword, who joined him on the family farm where they raised two children, John (Janice) and Sandi (Norm) Hill, and spent 15 wonder years together. In the early years, John worked in the woods, where he ran donkey for Browning Logging. Later, came various construction jobs, including the rebuild of the old, (Mill W), Weyerhaeuser Sawmill. He then went to work for the P.U.D. where he retired in 1984. After retirement, he and Betty loved to travel. Whether it was hop in the mustang for a quick trip to Reno, or one of the many trips to Hawaii, he loved it all. He took pride in visiting many of the historical sites throughout the south and east coasts, and always looked forward to Branson or Nashville for some “good country music.” In his later years, John enjoyed countless hours on his little tractor, making improvements around the house. He also looked forward to buffets with his family. John had five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Model “A”s to Mustangs, horse teams to John Deeres, John had a good and rewarding life. ….“my Journey gets sweeter every day.” Thank you to the ambulance crews that were so caring for John on his numerous trips to the E.R. and to all of the staff that cared for him there. Another thank you to Dr. Hill and the “Pro Time” ladies from the lab. -Betty Pehl and family To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of John F Pehl please visit our Sympathy Store.
