Hazel Eichner

October 25, 1927 — October 13, 2020

Hazel Eichner, a long time Raymond resident, passed away peacefully at the Willapa Harbor Healthcare in Raymond on October 13, 2020. She was 92 years old, being born on October 25, 1927 in Potlatch, Washington to Lester and Nellie Werner, the youngest of four daughters. Hazel married Robert Mill in 1945, having one child, Robert Mill. Both preceded her in death. She then married Sam Eichner in 1951, producing two children from that marriage, Frederick, of Olympia, and Leslie, of Grayland. In the mid sixties, she met her partner of 51 years, Jim Hilliard. He preceded her in death, also. She worked many jobs in the Raymond area, including Bill and Mary's Bakery, Service Grocery, the Riverview Clinic, and the South Bend Journal. She then started as a Clerk Typist at DSHS in Raymond above Dracobly's. She took every promotion she could, ending her career as Supervisor for DSHS in South Bend. She retired from there in 1990. Hazel was very active in Raymond, having been the female lead in musicals in the sixties, being on a bowling team, and golfing for many years. She belonged to a ladies 'Christmas Club,' and enjoyed playing cards with many of her friends right up until COVID made it impossible to gather. Hazel is survived by her son Fred, of Olympia, daughter in law Beth Scouller of Olympia, daughter Leslie of Grayland and her partner, Erik Pettersson, daughter in law Karyn Mill of Wishkah, grandsons Todd Mill of Wenatchee, David Eichner of Puyallup, granddaughters Lisa Mill of Wenatchee, Angela Eichner of Elk Grove CA, Jannette Eichner of Kenmore, Wa, and Allyn Eichner of Bellingham, She also has seven great-grandsons and two great grand-daughters. She was also preceded in death by her 3 sisters. When her death was announced on Social Media, there were many comments left. The consensus of those comments were 'She was one of a kind!' Due to the current virus restrictions, no services are planned at this time. When she was planning what to do, she was adamant that nothing was to be done...a few months ago, when faced with her failing health, she changed her mind. She said, 'Maybe something at the Elks Club that included a toast wouldn't be so bad....' Yes...Hazel WAS one of a kind! Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond, Washington.
