Geraldine Bittner

March 20, 1937 — March 27, 2017

Geraldine (Gerry) was born in Tacoma Washington. She grew up in a bustling city of industry and railroads. She used to recall her youthful days watching the Tacoma Tigers with her little brother. Geraldine had 3 uncles that were in WWII and she told stories of the soldiers returning home at Union Station in her city. She was a patriotic and caring individual. She had a strong sense of fairness and loved to offer her insight and opinions to her friends and acquaintances. Gerry will be remembered in South Bend Washington for her 3 decades as owner and operator of O. Sheridan’s Oyster Bar and Tavern. There she ran a lively and fun place for the locals and tourists alike to enjoy delicious fried oysters. She had visitors from all over the world come in and try her oysters. She would cook and have lively conversations with her customers. People who knew Geraldine, were fond of her frankness and honesty. She loved to match wits and put to use her knowledge, as she was an avid reader. Her original sense of humor was legendary. Geraldine loved the Willapa and living in South Bend. Rest in Peace Mother we love you! Geraldine will be missed by her surviving family members: daughters; Carreen LaRoche, Catherine Goldberg, Christine Bedell and Constance Goretti, their spouses Randy, David, Tom and Jack, grandchildren; Nolon LaRoche, Nelson LaRoche, Eli Goldberg, Karmen Whinfrey and Kristin Whinfrey, her brother Orville Sheridan and his wife Joanne Sheridan and last but not least her former husband and father to her children Arthur J. Swanson, and her dog Maximillian. No memorial services will be held at this time. Cremation arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
