Garry Phillips

Garry Lane Phillips, a resident of Raymond, WA died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, WA; he was 80. Garry was born March 18, 1937 in Los Angeles, CA to Harry and Lilly (Welshman) Phillips. He married Kathleen Robinson February 14, 1960 at the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. She preceded him in death in Nevada in 2007. Garry held many callings in life. He was proud to be the first male President of the Elko Garden Club in 1996 in Nevada. He served two separate missions as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, as a Raymond resident for the past year and a half he became a greeter at the Raymond Ward. He also spent some of his early years serving in the United States Army. In his spare time, Garry was a collector of coins, rocks and stamps. Most recently he enjoyed spending his Sunday nights watching “The Walking Dead†with his daughter-in-law. Garry also cherished his time as a grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his son Douglas (Denise) Phillips of Raymond, his brother-in-law Don (Shirley) Robinson of Madras, OR, his sisters Jay (Earl) Hickman of Los Angeles and Bonnie Rickman of Palm Springs, and his sister-in-law Kaylene (Mike) Kabiski of Lowell, OR. Gary is also survived by his four grandchildren, Janet Palmer (Lacey Ruby) of Bellingham, Jodi (Gordon) Woodruff of Kent, Jayleen Phillips of Bellingham and Joshua Phillips of Raymond as well as a great granddaughter Liliana Hope Woodruff and numerous nieces and nephews who always loved and will miss their “Uncle Buck†. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23rd at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Raymond with Bishop Holland. A graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26th at the Elko City Cemetery in Nevada with Bishop Knight. Memorial donations in Garry’s name may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements were in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond, WA.
