Emily Moseley

Emily Catherine (nee Mascarenhas) Moseley was born on March 22, 1926 to Domnic Camille Mascarenhas and Theresa Menezes in Nagpur, India and was baptized on April 4, 1926 in St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. She died Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Willapa Harbor Hospital in South Bend, Washington, she was 87. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Convent, Nagpur, India from the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate School Certificate in the year 1942. She worked as auditor for the Office of the Deputy Director of Audit and Accounts Nagpur and Bombay for 30 years and took an early retirement to marry Clayton G. Moseley with whom she corresponded as pen-pals for three years. They married in St. Ann’s Church, Byculla, Bombay, India on October 31, 1979. They were married by Fr. Arxe a Jesuit priest. She worked as a grader for 10 years at the Coast Oyster Company from where she retired in 1991. Emily was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Prayer Group and the Bible Study Group and also a member of the Pacific County Museum. She served as a Warrant Officer in the British Indian Army from 1944 to 1946. She loved animals and had many pets that she cared for. Emily’s hobbies included reading, sewing and corresponding with family and friends. Emily is survived by a niece Corena (John) Hall and their daughter, Megan, of Phoenix, Arizona, and many nephews, nieces and relatives and friends in India, Pakistan, England and France also survive her. She came from a family of eight brothers and sisters who all preceded her in death at a very young age. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Raymond.
