Elsie Steudler

September 26, 1923 — August 9, 2014

September 26, 1923 - August 9, 2014 Elsie Sophia Steudler, a lifelong resident of Raymond, died Saturday August 9th at the Willapa Harbor Care Center. She is survived by her son, Robert Steudler, and his wife Karen. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Matt and Fannie Mattson, her beloved sister Agnes Mattson and by her ex husband and Robert\\'s father Warner Steudler. Elsie was a hardworking breadwinner for her family. She was a meat wrapper at local markets and after retirement enjoyed several years of part time work at PACE helping prepare and serve meals to seniors. She was an avid flower grower who enjoyed puttering in the yard. Other activities that brought her pleasure included needle point, attending garage sales looking for bargains, and watching soap operas with her sister. Elsie didn\\'t drive that much but her car, a 1970 lime green Chevelle Malibu was highly recognizable. She would always get a kick out of the compliments the car received and folks asking her if it was for sale (of course it was not!). The family offers special thanks to some special people: Dr. Hing, the Willapa Care Center staff, two close friends that were like family Phil Elcher and Jim White, and the most wonderfully kind and loving Jo Gamage West who Elsie\\'s lifelong friend and roommate at the Care Center. Elsie would often ask why she had outlived her friends. Now she knows that her sister Agnes, Ethel Gamage (Jo\\'s mother), Eileen White (Jim\\'s mother), and Birdie Moseley were just preparing a place in the Heavenly Home for her--such a grand reunion! No memorial services will be held at this time. Inurnment took place at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
