Don was born in Aberdeen, Washington, on August 8, 1948, to George and Frances “Milly” Lagergren. He grew up with his five sisters: Ellen (Art) Fuller, Julia “Nan” (George) Judy, Catherine (Darrell) Patrick, Peggy (Terry) Disney, and Patricia (Tom) Guntle; and three brothers: Tom (Ellen) Lagergren, Lloyd (Lauren) Lagergren, and Carl (Mechele) Lagergren.

Don graduated from South Bend High School in 1966, worked for a short period of time in the oyster industry, then joined the Navy. He served on the USS Samuel Gompers during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970.

Don married the love of his life, Linda Martin on May 2, 1971. They made their home in Bay Center. He worked a short time for Coast Oyster Co, then at the Weyerhaeuser shake mill for 10 years, then worked for the Rose Ranch until his retirement. Don also served as a volunteer fireman, commissioner, and first responder at the Bay Center Fire Department for many years. Don was a proud member of the Chinook Indian Nation, and often volunteered at events.

Don was a great hunter, and spent his free time with his large family. He especially adored spending time with his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Linda; son Jacob, daughter-in-law Jennifer, grandsons Connor, Thomas, and Levi; and granddaughters Madison and Catherine Lagergren. Also special to Don, he was called “Papa Don” by Jordan, Dylan, Ravyn, Silas, Lexi and Joe Lorton.

He is also survived by many of his siblings, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, George and Milly Lagergren, his brother Carl, sister Cathy, and infant sister Vivian.
