Clara Morton

Clara Morton, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 of natural causes at the age of 94. Clara was born February 15, 1923 in South Bend, Washington to William and Grace Jones. She was the fourth of six children. Siblings Marjorie, Gene, Margaret, Ernie and Geraldine all preceded her in death. Clara married Dee Morton January 7, 1966 in Raymond. After Dee\\'s death in 2002, Clara remained at the family home on Whitcomb Road in Raymond, WA until health issues forced her to sell the home in 2017. Clara was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Bend for more than 60 years and was a staple in the kitchen where she oversaw the many potlucks and dinners sponsored by the church. Dee and Clara ran a seafood business from their home for many years and were renowned for the exquisite canned tuna which was in constant demand. Their home was abuzz with friends, family and clients seven days a week. They also were known for the crab feeds they put on for the Raymond Eagles Hall. The table was always set at Dee and Clara\\'s. Aside from her culinary skills, Clara knitted and crocheted wonderfully creating beautiful afghans, tablecloths, doilies and other works of art for friends and family. Her home was a display case of her handiwork. She worked at Bridges Inn in Raymond for many years and was loved by old and young alike for her excellent service and friendly nature. Clara was probably best known for her beautiful head of silver hair and was constantly receiving compliments even from strangers. Clara is survived by three daughters; Andrea (George) Henning of Aberdeen, Janet (Morton) Aho of Raymond and Barbara (Richard) Mossman of Beaver and one son, Jerry (Barbara) Morton of McCleary. Two sons; Ronald and Donald preceded her in death. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Mark Henning, Gregg (Angie) Henning, Aaron Henning, Ronald Morton Jr., Michelle Mollenberg, Jena Knotek, Jona Morton, Donald (Dawn) Morton, Monica (Ron) Cowles, Dennis Reinen, Jr., Teri Jarvis and Bobbi (David) Reed; numerous great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the South Bend First Baptist Church 310 Broadway Avenue South Bend, WA 98577. Burial will follow at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo, WA. All are welcomed to return to the South Bend First Baptist Church for refreshments.
