Barbara Somero

October 21, 1957 — July 1, 2015

Barbara Heidi Somero, a lifetime Willapa Harbor resident died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Providence St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia after a battle with leukemia; she was 57. Heidi was born October 21, 1957 in South Bend, Washington to Harold and Marianne (Holtzmann) Crose. She was a 1976 South Bend High School graduate and went on to earn her Bachelors of Education from Central Washington University in 1980. Heidi worked for the South Bend School district from 1983 until 2014. She married Walter Somero in Raymond; he survives her at the family farm. Heidi loved horses, gardening and being with her grandkids. Time spent with family was her favorite; whether on vacations or just sitting on the farm enjoying each other’s company. She volunteered with 4-H as a youth leader and later volunteered for her children’s 4-H clubs and camps too. Heidi was a member of the CrossRoads Church in Raymond. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Walter Somero; a son Kalin Somero of Shelton; a daughter Jennifer (Chris) Seiler of Camano Island, WA; brothers Michael Crose of Olympia, Harold Crose of Soap Lake, WA and Timothy Crose of Raymond, WA; sisters Chris McVey of Olympia and Evy Revel of Lacey, WA. Heidi is also survived by three grandchildren, Grace, Elizabeth and Samuel Seiler. Memorials may be made to the Heidi Somero Memorial Fund at the Great Northwest Federal Credit Union. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo with a gathering to follow at the family farm.
